Hanging In There

We’ve reached the halfway point in our church financial year and the good news is that we are basically on track. Our income year-to-date of $545,372 is $19,000 better than we budgeted, and our expense totals of $586,358 are $2,000 less than budgeted. Thus as of June 30, even though we are running a deficit of $41,000 for the year, we plan on a deficit at this point of the year and are $21,000 better than our budget plan.

The caution lies in a broader picture of our financial trends.

This Week at LIFT

  • Water Games! Bring clothes that can get wet (including shoes), and a beach towel is not a bad idea either!
  • Our Beginner’s “Reciprocal” language classes continue! The Reciprocal model means that small groups (2-4 persons) of Spanish and English speakers will be presented with a common topic and teach each other the most useful phrases from their own language, with the help of a worksheet, small group activity, and facilitation of bilingual teacher/leaders. This model levels the playing field between teachers and students, and is a great means of getting acquainted!

We’re Launching a Mug Club!

Cutting down on waste and improving the coffee experience all in one move. Sound interesting? We thought so. Here’s how it will work:

  1. You email office@trcholland.org to say you would like to be in the Mug Club.
  2. You include in that email how many mugs you’re putting in the club. This helps us buy the right amount of racks for mugs.
  3. You select a unique, dishwasher safe mug from your fine collection at home, one with a handle that can hang on a peg, and bring it in to church.
  4. You hang your unique-looking mug on a peg.
  5. Every Sunday you enjoy delicious coffee with your mug. When you’re done, you empty the mug into the supplied bucket and place your mug upside down in a dishwasher rack. Repeat the following Sunday.

Consistory Update

 Hey Friends,

Last week Tuesday, June 21, The Consistory of Third Reformed Church held their monthly meeting. We opened with devotions out of Galatians 1:1-5 about how God the Father wanted Jesus to come into this world and rescue us from our broken ways. We then prayed that God help us remain in the will of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
